John, This is wonderful writing. When you get as old as I am, you acquire the knowledge that death is no longer optional. Yes, the world is beautiful. It's great being here. Bobby |

For me, this ‘write’ is grand-fine American ‘Zen minimalism’ in the ‘classic’ form… if I recall correctly she was the one (of the so-called “elder poet-sages”) who wrote : “In the dusk the path … Is overgrown and indistinguishable, Except for the spider webs That hang across it Like threads of sorrow.”; “Watching the moon at midnight… solitary I knew myself completely.”; and : “the moonlight … leaks between the roof planks of this ruined house.” Interesting that you should mention her this evening!... I was thinking of just such a ‘ruined house’ when I wrote my humble post tonight… most serious applause for this penning,John! |

I don't think death is ever optional, John. My daughter was only 34 when she died from cancer. It's always there, waitng. But I think your poem is amazing. Ida |
