A Bed to Tend So, tell me how it is for you When it comes to tending beds, Where soft dampness Of dew lines succumb To the palm of your hand And careful planning of seed Is not figured in a hurry, As pale thoughts take on color, Though your hands are eager to touch Their soon to be nesting place As you hear sounds of want With earth ears and shivering limbs And an anxiety to see all come to Fruition, as spade enters earth’s womb Again, and again, tucking into its seams First a bulb, then your hand, Covering brown over white, or tan, or even Pink tinged oval rounds, And the earth moves under you, Soft round mounds covered With your hands, before the frost lines Lower into its depths, for now, It is alive, still warm, Supple enough to greet with welcome Who you are, and what you bring Like the lover of nature that you are. Time is too soon spent as limbs ache With the habits of yesterday, aged, A fine shine along your features as you stand Surveying your efforts, For you have tended the bed Well enough, then layered a blanket To tuck in the warm, to edge away for moments Any frost, until the winds hold their own And blow away time. I'm so hungry for spring |

You have tended that bed with tender heart and soft smiles You have seeded all you dreams with long preserved wish Longing for spring for those blooming stars that shines heavenly aroma here and there of your love My dear lady, your last poem is still lingering in my mind here you have a even better one. Pure beauty. Thank you for sharing. And I like the title very much. |

I love plants and flowers and though it is harder for me as I get older and the arthritis kicks in I still tend my own plants as much as I can, My backyard is full of flowers and is my sanctuary. This beautiful poem speaks for all of us nature lovers. (I'm going plant shopping tomorrow) iDA |

Sunshine, I can handle tending the type of bed you sleep in. I'll leave the growing of vegetables and flowers to other people. This is well written. Bobby |

As you hear sounds of want With earth ears and shivering limbs And an anxiety to see all come to Fruition, as spade enters earth’s womb You have written a sensual love song, dear Karilea! And tending the flower beds IS indeed like making love to Earth and what delight when the seeds sprout. I miss a garden, it's not the same feeling with a balcony. I remember all the scents of my garden back in Switzerland ... sometimes when I go to buy fruit and vegetables at the market I perceive some of those scents and the longing becomes intense. Wonderful write!! Love Margherita |

very, very fine 'write!' I am especially fond of the ending: "you have tended the bed Well enough, then layered a blanket To tuck in the warm, to edge away for moments Any frost, until the winds hold their own And blow away time." very serious and long-sustained applause!! |
