Felix is always getting beat on,
starved,
and worked half to death.

Felix hates that.
Felix hates
the whole world.

I mean,
what does this world
offer him?

Not a damned thing,
that’s what.

The only thing
that keeps him going
is hope—

the hope that things
will get better for him.

That’s what keeps him
plugging along—
the only thing.

May Felix never lose sight of his "hope" for a better life. May he never give up. Whenever we feel down-trodden, "Hope" is what keeps us putting one foot in front of the other to get us to a better place.

I "hope" the same for him. There are better days ahead!!! Hold that thought Felix!

Wonderful, Bobby, HOPE is vital in so many moments of our lives. And if we were in Felix's shoes I think we wouldn't be pleased with the world either and it is not at all easy to remain focussed on improvement under such circumstances.

So my compliments to Felix for not losing hope!

No, Felix never lost hope.

As a client, and dear friend from Cartagena, Columbia once told me many years ago:

“Hope is always the last thing to go.”

Yes, Felix is now, and always has been full of hope.  That, as you say, is what kept him going through the rough times.

Hope is always the last thing to go. Hope stays with us from when we are very young, like Felix, to when we get old like--well--me.

Hope is a gift.
