Dreams of the young at heart
Never will compare
To the ones I have inside
When I see you there.

Songs I have, I could write
Right here on my tongue
But I know they are the ones
Never to be sung.

Those things that touch the soul
And ache so, to be felt
Are in that deck of cards
Never to be dealt.

This life as we should know it
Is for me, already done
And it's so hard to believe
There is another one.

Maybe it's imagination
Or things I cannot see
But why won't this ol' world
See all that I, could be?

Guess that's "The way life is."
"The way the cookie crumbles."
Some get up and go right on
Some stay down when they stumble.
