                 The Lap of Luxury

I was sitting there watching the Tele' one night,
When they started the weekly Tattslotto draw,
I showed little interest as the first balls came in sight
But interest soon quickened as I noticed the score.

The first four drawn matched the ones on my sheet
And we’d had a weekly ticket for twenty odd years,
As the next one rolled down my heart missed a beat,
Because our previous luck had been all in arrears.

I could not believe it as our sixth number came up
And my heart- beat had quickened at quite a fast pace,
Could this be the night that we’d fill up our cup,
A night that would free us from this infernal rat race.

The first supplementary number was too good to be true,
My wife and I looked at each other in a positive daze,
Then the number we badly wanted came up on cue
And when it fell, bl--dy hell, was our jubilant phrase.

Three million dollars, we could not believe our luck,
We could now buy those things we’d long waited for,
For at last, no longer, would we in mediocrity be stuck,
We hoped to be living in the lap of luxury evermore.

I bought a new Ferrari & for the wife I bought a Benz
And felt great satisfaction as I paid for them in cash.,
It’s funny how we quickly had a new influx of friends,
For word spread like lightning from this latest new-flash.

Our life was unbelievable with money now to burn,
Hand-outs to everyone & a life-style quite supreme,
But just as I sold my farm off went the clock’s alarm
And with great disappointment I woke up from a dream.

Sweet dreams...if I won three million I would invest the money and live off of the interest and the income...if not, I think it would be easy to spend three million in three years and be right back in the rat race...James

Now those are the kinds of dreams that one never wants to wake up from! ~ I also have dreams of another sort that I am loathe to wake up from! winky wink

You strung us along beautifully, LP!

May all your dreams be as 'rich' and sweet and be manifested into reality! ~ and don't forget who lovesya, Aussie Man!!!

Love the write! Wish it had been true for you! ~ Perhaps that dream was just the writing on the wall of what is yet to come!!!

Loving hug,
Linda

Lindsay,

I smiled. Then I thought that maybe your life is already filled with the luxury of giving and receiving love - and sharing the creativity that wells up from inside you.

I am so happy that you share your wealth.
