John, I’m sorry to say, yes he does. As a young soldier, I knew exactly what it meant. Thankfully, I never had to do it. I was lucky. However, I was mentally prepared to do it, and would have. Bobby |

Huan Yi, During WW II my father took part in the fire bombing of Dresden. His bombs were responsible for thousands of deaths. His bombs roasted thousands of Germans— mostly women and children. The men were at war. It's something he never, ever, talked about. He never fully recovered from that war. God Love Him. I know I did. I’m very proud of him. Yes, it was rough. Bobby |

Huan My Father was in Hiroshima just after the bomb was dropped & I remember Him telling me that you could see the outline of the bodies that had been vaporized on the walls of the buildings that were left undamaged. He also saw the aftermath of other atrocities & I am certain took part in some of them Himself. I know it had a deep lasting impression on Him. Thank God I was never put in that position, it is because of the troops that had to do these things that I never had to be put to the test...very thought provoking piece you wrote John, Thanks John |

interesting 'write' and elicited responses as well! [My father was one of the intelligence officers that planned that Dresden raid (and many others)...I know it profoundly affected all connected with said...not even just those that actually carried out the mission(s).] |

I think all men and women who have fought in wars whether they have killed or seen death are affected by it and it may take years before one sees that result. M |
