She was always looking for a new path
and he followed.
That was her nature and not his
but he followed.
He followed her down every path she chose
until she tired of him and let him go.
He watched her disappear into memory
and was forever lost.

It is unfortunate that this, as well as the converse scenario, is ofttimes true.

Simply stated ~ but with great emotional impact. I sit, remembering...

I like this a lot, Ida.  And, I have to agree with Bobby (gasp!) ~ grins at Bobby ~ on his comment.

Thank you all for your comments, I agree with Bobby too but sometimes you just have to watch people do things that make absolutely no sense and just keep quiet about it.

Ida,

until she tired of him and let him go.
He watched her disappear into memory

A very sweet and poignant poem.  Some memories are  never lost.

Related to and enjoyed your poem, Ida.

This knocked the breath out of me, Ida.  Sad, but beautiful.

Sometimes desire and reality are two very separate things. She desired a new path, he desired her to follow wherever she went. Then one day a new path was before her, and she chose to go alone . . . This is sad, and true to so many relationships that slowly dissolve.

And it's so true, Ida. There are times all you can do is watch it happen.

This hits way too close to home for comfort.

The sad truth is, I am he, forever lost, but I have never, ever, ever forgotten.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

There is a morality to this, don't let someone lead you or don't follow anybody...Not always easy to do cause we need somtimes to follow someone (or at leat to trust someone) ...I appreciate so much your poems Ida and even if I already read this one it again impacts my mind...

have a good day
