it is strange sometimes
how the memory places linger
like smoke on a jacket
after the campfire is gone

the taste of your tea
as it was whispered in lady words
from across a momentary table top
when our bodies were beyond talk

but we kept them there anyway
in the time and place confinement
like saving the best until last
and never getting to it

perhaps it is in a bottle now
with the other flavors of you
waiting for a special occasion
when we can't wait anymore

and have to let it explode in love
