Felix and Wawa are hanging out down the end of the pier off Penn Treaty Park. They’re “hip” and “wise”. It’s late at night, and they’re alone, just standing there looking at the lights strung across the Ben Franklin Bridge over the Delaware River. There’s a big thirty foot long yacht tied up at the pier. A guy’s standing on the deck of the yacht. He’s dapper, has a white captain’s hat, blue wool pullover sweater, and white, long, pants. The captain hollers up to them: “Hey boys, you wanna come aboard and take a look around?” Felix is thinking to himself— this guy’s prime hawk material. “Ah sure captain, why not?” “You have a nice boat there captain.” An hour later, the captain’s not feeling well at all. He’s nursing a badly split head. Felix and Wawa are feeling fine— they’re flushed. Bobby |

Beautiful. Long time ago, I, with a friend swam on to a big fishing boat and the "captain", the boat owner started the boat and made a big circle around the bay. The water was so clear and 1 and 1/2 meters deep. the sky was blue and the sun was at 10am. Beautiful experience for poem if i have a better poetic pen. Wonderful memory ![]() |

TomMark, Your experience sounds like quite an adventure. You should write about it. I, for one, would like to read it. Thanks for reading and commenting on this one. Bobby |

Felix is thinking to himself— this guy’s prime hawk material What do you mean by prime hawk material Bobby? I do like this poem... but I thought Felix and WaWa weren't supposed to hang around the pier? They do seem to have some wonderful adventures though! love RDB Be kind at heart....for everyone you meet has their own battle to fight......... |

RDB, "Hawk" is used by Felix and Wawa as a shortened form of "Chicken hawk". A "Chicken hawk" is a sexual predator that molests boys, and young men. It's an American slang word. Here again Wawa has gotten Felix into trouble. If you remember, Felix is not a very intelligent child. If Felix's mom gets wind of this she'll kill him. Felix isn't supposed to hang around with Wawa. Wawa always was a bad kid. Bobby |

John, I'm sure that with your guidance your "little one" will be just as wise. "Little ones" should be informed about such things by their parent, or guardian, so they don't have to discover such things on their own. Bobby |

Secondhanddreampoet, Thanks for the kind comment. Yes, never mess around with the Felix's and Wawa's of the world. Bobby |
