Once upon a time in a land of dreams
On this itty bitty pea green boat
There sat a little kitten
Who was really rather smitten
With an owl in a grey white coat

The cat was rich in gratitude
For the owl that made him smile
The bird had eyes for which to Di
Ana say with no denial

The Pussy said honey well I have no money
But I’ll give you every single star
The Owl said fine that the sea’s our wine
And she played on her guitar

O Kitty, O Kitty
You are really quite witty
But your fleas have got to go
If it’s not an itch
You have me in a stitch
Don’t make me heave and ho

You know you are my friend dear cat
And to which I do feel fond
But we have many miles to sail still yet
As I live across this pond

Oh yes dear Owl you magnificent fowl
How I thank you for this lift
You know I can’t swim
And my brain is quite dim
So let’s enjoy our lovely drift
I do not play an instrument
But for you I’ll try to sing
So close your ears the notes I hit
Might make your poor ears sting

O Owl O Owl
Can you hear me growl
I am really a lion at heart
You brighten up my darkest night
And help my day to start
But ‘fore it all is said and done
Aboard this floating swoon
Let’s dance by the night
Of the moon
Of the moon

Let’s dance by the light
of the moon

For Diana,
for always being there.

Rich I did so much enjoy your poem, It took me back to my favourite nursery rhyme when I was a child, 'The Owl and The Pussy Cat,' and it certainly gave me a big smile. It also brought another one back that I much enjoyed as a child. 'The Little Pig,'

The thunder roared and the lightning flashed
And the gates of heaven were shaken
The little pig rolled up his tail
And ran to save his bacon.

Have a great day my friend.

Yo Richy,

This is a nice take off on Lewis Carroll.

Laughing and loving this... and especially love that it's for Diana... Diana, you deserve it and thank goodness fine writers like Richy can put it into words.  Just one of your many gifts in the area of writing Richy, is to make the people you appreciate, feel appreciated.  Thank you for that - it's nice to see in a world where kindness often goes unnoticed.
