After being turned away from the Settlement House doors, Felix has no where to go. Mom won’t be home until she gets off work at twelve O’clock. He goes back to the house, and just sits outside the door, and shivers. There’s no place else for him to go. He has a chill, and starts to shake. The door opens next door. Mrs. Jaski hollers over to him. “Hey Felix, what are you doing just sitting out there in the wet?” “I can’t get in the house Mrs. Jaski, I don’t have no key.” “You get your tail over here Felix, right now.” Mrs. Jaski fixes Felix a hot bowl of chicken-noodle soup. “You just stay here until your Mom gets home.” “Thanks Mrs. Jaski.” Felix’s been out too long. Next week he comes down with a nasty case of strep-throat, he nearly dies. He always was, a frail child. Bobby |

Poor Felix, he just can't catch a break. When anyone in my family is sick I make them some homemade chicken soup. They all think it can cure anything and maybe it can because they think so. Ida |

Artic Wind, Well, Felix is glad you don't like chicken-noodle soup. It means more for him. Felix doesn't like to share his chicken-noodle soup. Bobby |

Passing shadows, Yes, Mrs. Jaski was an angel. She was a saint. In fact, the whole neighborhood looked after Felix, principally due to his fragility. He'd break all the mothers hearts just looking at him. Now he's a fragile old man, and the hood is still looking out for him. Bobby |
