you fall from yourself
in the last moments
you have to think
inspite of memories.
you see the vaulted
skies of heaven
slip away from your
touch, to late to weep.
the heart is a fragile
creature of post modern
art form, attacked by
the smallest of pains.
we smile at the face
of anger, laugh at death
cry when happy, all along
fooling it to beat.
when chastised, we repell
to the inermost folds
of our minds, finding
the safe spot to breathe.
how then we fail
when it moves on to beat
with another whom we
see as saviour.
that slight touch of skin
that moves us beyound
our mortal thoughts
and into the arms of love.

A wonderful line, Michael.
The ending is a beautiful acceptance of the healing power of love.
