FROZEN BREATH
27 February 2007

Her crown of grey
weighing heavily,
with bowed head
and glazed eyes,
she sat
alone in her room
and nobody knew
not even the grey-day rain
outside her window.
Slowly her head shook
from side to side
in shock and disbelief, not understanding
her daughter’s long-lived
hate.

Shock and frozen breath are the right words for such a sudden discovery. Almost unbearable.

Powerful write indeed, dear Diana!

Very nice work Owl, the solitude of the king however powerful he is has alway frightened me, I said that because of the first verse and sometime the solitude of the poets....
I wish your daughter is fine with her consciousness...

sorry for that misunderstanding, it is always misunderstanding....

I'm hoping that warm hearts will thaw
this glacier of communication between
you both.

And that cool waters of affection
break through, and spring eternal.

Hugging you sweet friend.

Thank you Eric.  I know you were talking about the poem, but the situation pretty much hit me in the solar plexus, I must admit.

Thank you Margherita.  Yep, almost unbearable is putting it mildly.

Thank you Ida.  What you said is warm support, just the way you said it.

Thank you Helen. You shared the burden in your reading of it and your comments.

Thank you Yann, for your kind support.  However, it isn’t a misunderstanding.  I thought it may be that, but I discovered that she wants it to be so - and to change the situation would be taking something away from her, or so, I believe she subconsciously believes.  She needs to be – and to tell the world – that she  is an unloved daughter.  It is part of her image and who she believes she is.  It tears me apart for a million reasons.

Richy, thank you for your beautiful wish, but, as I said to Yann, above, she doesn’t want it fixed.  I have tried everything I can think of for twenty years and will do so for another twenty and another and another, and will continue to do so from beyond the grave, but I know that it won’t change.  Thanks for the hugs.  You can’t know how well-timed they are.

Oh Diana... I feel so bad.  You are too lovely a lady for this... but it does my heart good to see these words "I can think of for twenty years and will do so for another twenty and another and another, and will continue to do so from beyond the grave."  We can never fully know anything.  Prayers, wishes, hugs, and kisses to you.

Ouch!  Sorry, Brett!  :[, but yes, I know what you mean.  Thank you for your support.

Thank you Debby.  Yes, it hurts, but it helps to read such lovely family stories as yours - and I do have my wonderful son - not that my daughter isn't wonderful too, in her own way, not that she allows me to know her more than the absolute minimum any more.  Yes, I will never give up on her, in spite of the fact that realistically and objectively I really do know that there is no hope for change.  I don't think that a miracle would have any effect in this particular case, unfortunately.
