I’ve looked at your face all my life and know not who you are I know of every blemish and I’ve counted every scar I’ve been with you as time has etched a road map ‘cross your face I’ve seen the looks of happiness, of sadness, and disgrace I’ve seen you try to cheer up friends and try to best advise All the while, saddened feelings you chose to disguise I’ve seen you look into my eyes and try to figure out Why so much pain has to accompany our lives throughout I’ve seen when you were under stress and took a long deep breath I saw when you were told that you might face an early death I saw you at a funeral, and how you looked so torn I saw the looks of wonder every time each child was born I’ve seen you look so confident like you could save the world I’ve seen you at the bottom when your whole life came unfurled I’m sorry I gave up on you I never thought I would I’d ask you for forgiveness if I thought it’d do some good I worry that sometimes you’re going to fall and not get up I worry you’ll throw in the towel and say you’ve had enough I’ve heard you talk to others about promise’s and hope It’s time you stopped pretending as if you know how to cope I want to see the stars at night and feel the ocean breeze I want to smell the flowers as I walk among the trees I’m begging you to try and help me see another dawn Yes you there in the mirror I need for you, to carry on Freedom of expression is our, write. |

Perhaps you are realizing that it is time to put away childish things, Rich. I hope you find what you are looking for and enjoy every happiness. Ida |

Raw and honest. Masks are easily put on... but you can't hide what is under them from yourself. |

Achingly beautiful. May I suggest two things to do for yourself? The first is not to ask yourself for forgiveness, but to give it to yourself anyway and in abundance for anything that you feel you need to do it for, in spite of how big or small that thing or those things may be - and to forgive yourself from deep down in your toes right through the top of your head in cloud-floating relaxation of every muscle of your body and every corner of your mind. The second is to acknowledge to yourself openly and honestly all the wonderful characteristics you have. Don't be modest. Nobody can hear you - wow, what a long list that is going to be. You have extremely high expectations of yourself - that's what a perfectionist does - he/she doesn't believe that he/she ever comes anywhere near reaching it, but continues to strive for it - and that is fine, but it can put very great and damaging stress on oneself - and that is why it is important for perfectionists to stop and heal oneself from time to time - and anyway, you are plenty good enough for us, so you should be for you too! - Owl |
