It’s way hot and muggy in the hood. Young Angelo feels like just throwing in the towel. Felix is always beating on him for no good reason, and Sally never feeds him enough. He’s running around half starved, with his stomach growling away. It’s a miserable life. The only thing that keeps him going is his broom-stick, and a good game of stick ball out on the play ground. Felix tells him he should be playing half ball. Oh yeah, sure, but just try and find a pimple ball, they don’t make them anymore Dad. How are you supposed to play half ball if you don’t have a pimple ball to cut in half? Angelo is good at stick ball. He’s hit loads of home runs out past the second fence around the playground. Then when it gets too dark for stick ball, there’s always “babies in the air”. He’s good at that too. Bobby |
