DISSIPATED
25 November 2006

The sky is high;
the wings beat hard;
but none
receives (with joy or indifference),
nor wants,
nor sees,
nor cares;
and the offerings are reduced
to battered feathers
scattered on a frozen pond.

Thanks, Kacy and Margherita.  Thanks for the support!

Thanks, Yann.  I am honoured that you wouldn't miss a poem of mine.  What I was saying at the time that I wrote it (2006) that nobody seems to know what I have to offer as a person, nor want it, nor care.  I was talking in a general sense - not just a "relationship", but workwise, and just simply everything.  The bird part was an analogy.  The sky being high was referring to my goals and what one can achieve generally.  The wings beating hard was about my always trying the best I can at everything I do.  The "battered feathers/scattered on a frozen pond" referred to all of this killing me, but my offerings (part or all of me and thus feathers) were battered - perhaps to death - and my feathers weren't buried or lovingly scattered by somebody, but fell from the sky - but the pond they fell on to didn't envelop the feathers with love because the pond was frozen - thus cold and rejecting.  I am glad you asked so that I could explain it.

Your poems always touch me so deeply. Diana
They often make me cry. I once wrote a poem that started with "My thoughts are as deep as the core of the world". I think these words must surely apply to you.
                          Hugs to you,
                                  Ida
