Gathering Rags

What gathers the lost,
What will take the time’s cost
To spend in gathering the abandoned?

What can there be gain
In gathering so very plain,
The dirty cloth casually abandoned?

T’was once a silk scarf
Very pretty before it was torn off,
The owner’s death imparted a soul.

Now the others bind,
Rags from wherever it can find,
Bulk to add to the imparted soul.

Is it becoming more aware
As the lost each rag can share
Adding bulk to the abandoned?
