I wonder did you know your kids-- yanno they didn't mention them? I remember Eddie and ya'll had things together then but you had a lot of cats... and lotza gizmo's Eddie had put together in his hat with his wand a-tap-tap-tap: He pulled another kitty out. Your first year of wedded bliss was us, and our beneficence of blotter on the tongues received and you both seemed so damned relieved it would not be real....you kissed laughing creativity, equallly magnificent pretending happiness and weed was the fog machine that night. That was one weird party man as if you had your forces planned like it was a game of RISK and we were neutral novices dancing like we were the witch doctors of your wedded bliss. "This one needs some mellowing," I saw his eyes and we agreed. He nodded and he planted seeds in a semi-toxic drink, whispering, swallow... Tap-tap-tapping the top hat; "Drop yourself into the vat" with a serious straight face and that tight-neck hard starch lace follow tap-tap-tap-the-hat and? forget about this place... as it melted like Dali and his watches tick-ticking sidereals of our surreal and feathers molted and congealed in puddles on the floor. A Queen was fanning furious spanish lace and curious hearts upon her sleeve that flew when she said "Hrrrmmmph," and worse-- she looked away unmerciful and called upon poor Percival reluctantly, the dogmatist blunted his blade on their necks. I wondered, touched your tummy then-- your kids, your kids Did you know them? Eggs of ovulate and need of piercing of your bad boy's greed as you patted him, his head like a knight who'd won his bread and breakfast with the queen... I'll always wonder did you see? Oh-my-god-I-love-this-song curtsey, curse and play reverse chords against the antiverse lessening the grip of terse rings upon white fingergloves-- as lacy as the bounds of love: orchids dropping off the twig like confetti from your smile covering the mound of this: Metal plate and picture frame your birth date and your brithname with a vase that turned sideways after all your blooms had died.... like confetti from your smile always withering the strain. |

I think Blondie would have sung this song with some sense of pride... had you written it then... it's worth another 33 reads or so... ![]() |

Karen...Another one of your masterpieces that will keep me up for many nights to come trying to figure it out. "Why do you torture me like this" Poof... the top hat disapears in a haze of smoke while the rabbit jumps thru hoop of yesterday Do you really know your kids or are they just cheerful faces and names choosen in haste on the eve of smoke induced dreams. Playing softly on my mind the ever changing sounds of this world where we live. Don't ask me what all of this means, it just seemed to go with your poem...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

Odd that you should mention "Blondie"--this is um, my idea of a eulogy for a friend who passed away last week. She loved Blondie. Actually it's a eulogy for her, her marriage, and an era that I can only remember in bits and pieces--like confetti. And PAULLIE--come here you! ![]() I love what you wrote, and I wish you'd post it on your own. And I'm chuckling a bit too, because I rather thought you'd show up on my other poem, which I painstakingly kept very simple, thinking that Paullie should appreciate this'n. I suspect you not only get my stream-of-conscious stuff, but prefer it. And now that I see you can write it? grins I'm gonna be typing after you! ![]() But R.I.P. Marla, George Carlin, and all the ghosts of psychedelic's past. |

Karen...Your explaination caught me by surprise, I read the poem after posting my reply and thought maybe it was about growing up, having children and coming to the conclusion that life didn't turn out the way we planned it, in our haste to grow up we lost our childhood. So what other poem did you think I would reply to since you have about 3 or 4 on page one right now. Maybe I put to much or try to take to much out of your poetry, but I don't think you could ever write a simple one, your brain wouldn't allow it. Me on the other hand all i can say is simple is as simple does...Paul ![]() ![]() ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

I recognized this as the 'eulogy' that it is... penned as only you and your heart can... I'm so sorry you've suffered yet another loss, Karen... I love ya, my sis... ![]() "When the power of love overcomes the love |

Thanks Miss Vicky... (Did sister "twist" mention it?) hmmm... I hadn't seen Marla in years--it's not like I hang out anywhere anymore, but I always assumed I would see her again, and that part of death is something that remains shocking, yanno? The "I'm never going to see them again" thing... And I just backspaced a ramble. She had great parties. ![]() Thanks for stopping in for a peek at one. *smoochies* And Paullie? I enjoy teasing you too much, methinks. *grin* I wasn't gonna tell you which poem I was referring to, but I do have a mean streak--DON'T I FOLKS? ![]() My "simple" poem is The Danger of The Daisy Game. I like to play around with different styles. *shrug* I bore me. Love to all! ![]() |

Nope... Twist didn't mention it... I haven't talked to her in a week or two... and yep... I miss ya both... but as far as your poem goes?... I just read and and heard/felt the sounds of a loss... and then I got to this part... "Metal plate and picture frame your birth date and your brithname with a vase that turned sideways after all your blooms had died.... like confetti from your smile always withering the strain." and then I was sure... and yes... I do understand thinking you'll have time... believing that we'll see certain people again... and then it's too late... *smoochies back at'cha* ![]() "When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace." --Jimi Hendrix |

Karen, I really enjoyed trying to work this out. Somehow (I am probably wrong) no matter how hard I try to understand the third line "yanno they didn't mention them?") I keep thinking that you didn't mean one of those words - either the "they" or the "them", but I can't work out which. I gathered it was about a marriage (and I saw from the responses that I was right about that), but I didn't know whether it was yours or somebody else's. I especially love the Salvador Dali part, and I especially, especially love the indescribable mood in: curtsey, curse and play reverse chords against the antiverse and, as you know I totally concur with Paul Wilson and the degree of your brilliance. I am so sorry for your loss, and love your inevitable honesty about not having seen Marla in a while. I believe you expressed that fact so as: 1) not to get more sympathy than you feel you deserve; 2) not to receive something that is inapplicable (NOT the same as the previous point, which I know you will have known anyway); 3) because you so ENJOY AND CELEBRATE the truth; and 4) to explain the feelings that you wanted to express about the shock of knowing that you won't be seeing her again. Like Paul, and as you know well, I celebrate the magnificence and complexity of your brain. - Owl |

smiling...what is true and what is not is pretty much a matter of perspective I suppose. I usually tell folks what I make up and what I don't, but in this case? Considering the chemical make-up of the party favors, I'm sure you'd get a lot of different definitions of reality. ![]() *shrug* The last one left has to write the book. (That's the rule we live by...smile) My truths are weird enough. When I can remember 'em. Love you Diana. ![]() |

Your poem stirs my memories bringing back a time and place that was my youth. Life was one big party... and I wouldn't trade it for anything, not that I wish to live it over again. Heck I don't want to push my luck, I might not survive the second time around. Your poem also brings to mind the very special people that were a part of that place in time so long ago. It's such a treat to read you Serenity, even when I don't reply, you can be sure I'm lurking out there somewhere. |

You know? I only hope one day to be holding a book in my hand with all your poetry in it. That dear lady, would be a book with real "heart." This was a beautiful piece K, and I too am sorry for yet another loss felt. ![]() |

OK, so it usually helps to either click the library box or save it to my own hard-drive under ExtraSpecialPoetry. |

30 years ago Robert M Pirsig in Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance convinced me that quality defied definition. He should read you. |
