This poem was inspired by 2 people that I've talked to, who through everything have learned to look on the bright side of life. They've given all they have to their Christian faith, letting God lead them on. It's a shame so many people these days value worldly possessions and don't focus on what really matters anymore. Too Often Too often this day, Our vision is distorted Distorted in favor to the material world, Phones, cars, money, and toys Too often this day, Our vision is blinded Blinded by the fake, Greed, envy, hatred, narcissism Not often enough this day, Our vision is cleared Cleared in favor of what really matters, Family, God, hope, and truth Not often enough this day, Our vision is shown the light Shown the light of all that is true, Love, care, meek and humble Too often this day, We forget what matters We forget that life is sometimes too short And can be taken by our Maker at any time He wishes Too often this day, We pass up opportunities We leave our wrongs un-righted And care about just us Not often enough this day, We remember what matters We remember to live life as if it’s your last day on Earth And to live in His name Not often enough this day, We grab opportunities, And right our wrongs And care for those who truly need caring Too often this day, We dwell on the past And live in regrets Wishing we could change them Not often enough this day, We move on from the past, And live with no regrets Knowing nothing can be done about them Live for here, now and today Not for tomorrow, in a week, or in a month Live for what is right, Not for what is wrong At any moment our life could be cut short, And with that realization, Isn’t it worth it to know, “I did everything I could” Live for happiness, Live for peace, Live for truth, Live for love. |
