How beautiful your 'night' sky is! The sky is a glorious array of spiritual colours and Father Sun makes an ethereal, mystical Mother Moon.

Jaime,

I am sorry, darlin' friend.

The picture is a midnight sky in June in Alaska.  It's mid blue sky with darker blue clouds.  The moon is small and silvery.

The haiku on it says:

Midnight moon in June,
steadfast and reliable,
as sun lights the night.

Hello, John.
Don't know why the list keeps bouncing and bouncing but I will try this yet again...
Thank you for your ATTN ...
Although I have shadowed and interviewed several people working in this
field, the information has not led to a particular job focus.  I have been
unable to give my VRR counselor more than a  general description of how a
meteorologist works; (I'm just fascinated by the dam stuff) I can not
describe exactly what button one would push or which dials to turn, etc.
This might be in contrast to the tasks performed by, say a vending stand
operator or switchboard operator.  We do not know of a totally blind
meteorologist and do not know what alternative techniques or tasks such an
employee would perform.  From what I have been able to gather, an employee
of NOAA, the office jobs, work with several keyboards for entering data and
interact with computers.  Many routine functions, such as making and
transmitting surface observations, have been automated and are not done
visually and data is being increasingly obtained from instruments only.  It
seems to me that I am doing that right now, but of course this would be
greatly simplified, since what appears on the Internet are products rather
than the data used to compile them.  When I talk with employees about their
work, I have not touched any of the equipment used, and I am very mindful
that they are busy and can show me only so much of what they are doing.
I am very anxious to plan and then execute an academic program requiring
math and physics ASAP, but I don't think DVR will sponsor any of my plans
unless those can be justified in some particular way, which I have not found
a way to do.  They are steering me away from things that interest me, but I
believe that is because they don't really know what else to do.
the term "meteorologist" doesn't seem to work, but I would be willing to
settle for something related to it, which might give me the background to it
and might serve as a kind of back door into doing weather stuff.
You mentioned something about Java?
I'm afraid I don't even really know what JAVA is, just seen references to it
...
Oh, for the good old days of DOS
What I have done or have up to now doesn't seem to have worked.
If I had a couple of zillions, I would get under way, believing that some of
the details will become more apparent.  But I'm not sure how to justify this
to my counselor, whom I believe is very good, and probably just needs more
guidance than I can give at this time.
Got any?
Jaime
