Sweet Williams

The heady scent of Sweet Williams,
brings memories flooding back to me,
~ Of a summer’s night, so long ago,
when I gave my love so free.

We were young and innocent,
and hungry to explore,
The smoldering passions in each of us,
and eager kisses of adore.

Upon the dewy grass that night,
you drew me close to you.
Your beating heart flamed fires in me,
and away my cautions flew.

I felt so safe and cherished,
within the circle of your arms.
You wanted us to be as one,
and I succumbed to your charms.

Beneath a starlit canopy,
we joined in harmony.
~ Breathing in each other's love,
in our world of ecstasy.

Whenever I smell Sweet Williams,
those memories come back to me,
~ Of that summer’s night, so long ago,
when I gave my love so free.

one’s soul with that of another.

What a lovely poem of a wonderful time. It kind of takes me back to a sandbar on a river .. well, anyway ..

This is lovely writing.

For some strange reason, it brought to mind my first cigar, while lying in a dewy field in the grass. That was many years ago. I still smoke the things.

I have a mind to plant some Sweet Williams in my flower garden, as well. Their scent is absolutely glorious! ~ But I fear slipping into a state of nostalgia whenever I open a window or step outside. lol

Well, my Tenerife friend, consider it done! The title of the poem is now "Sweet Ray".

Maybe no one has written a love poem to you, but I would wager that many a woman would have wanted to!

It is curious how a scent can bring memories flooding back to us. Whenever I smell lilacs, I am immediately transported to my grandmother's garden where we would have afternoon teas.

I'm fortunate to be able to open audio files almost immediately. I know that several pipsters either don't have audio or their internet connections are slow and it would take forever to download.

Dear Linda, Angelo Terrestre, I think your wings carry sweet williams scent and time has not passed for you at all it seems ... there is such a freshness in your enticing words!

Just these days I was tempted to buy those lovely flowers for my balcony, we had them in the garden when I was a teenager and I adore their scent too.
