I'm writing two poems here and there are a few more I will add eventually, but I wanted to say how much I love these silly poems due to THEIR history. I made these up on the road from a Buckly farm house to the big town of Bloomington, IL as I was driving to my cleaning jobs when I was first married and with babies! It was so fun to sit in the car and put these together and then write them down when I got home! Hope you enjoy their silliness! Helen Keller Helen Keller could not speak, Nor could she hear or see. But Helen had a great big heart And the lady was quite smart. What I said is not quite right. Her hands and brain gave her sight. With her fingers, Helen spoke And she heard what she needed, Though her ears were broke. Jessie Owens Jessie Owens had a knack for track. Some people doubted it ’cuz he was black. But at the ’36 Olympics, he won seven medals And made Adolf Hitler mad as the devil. |

Smiling very large, darlin' because our "tempos" are quite similar... it must be a midwestern voice because our rhymes are not quite choice and we hear with our heart and not our voice of da-dum da-dum- da-dum but yet your poem holds its thrum. Brava! " It matters not this distance now " Excerpt, Yesterday's Love |

Enjoyed the fun, Debby. I didn't know who Jessie Owens was, but now I do! Reminded me of Owen More. I don't know who wrote this, but: Owen More went away owin' more than he could pay. - Owl |

I would have learned my history lessons in school better if they were as "Fun, Silly" and as entertaining as are these poems! EA |

Very cute and it's nice to learn that you created them while driving, a very creative way to remain awake and fit. Love, Margherita |

graeshine2006, These are very good, and historically accurate. I don't find them silly at all. Bobby |
