Or something Like It

He once wrote about topics that mattered:
oil, war, apathy, loneliness, sex –
he loved to make readers squirm;
didn’t care if you called him crazy.

Now, he writes in circles.
A weight rests against each letter
like italics, emphasizing the void.
Everything is art to him,
even nothingness.

His pen no longer leaves
an impression.

Your title brings one in,
and then
your poem circles the lost art.

Corinne...we have missed you!

Write when you can.

Hey Corinne, it's great to see your name here.
Your poetry is always unique and has a certain flair that is uncompared.

So glad to read you again.

His writing about nothingness has had one meaningful result - it created your beautiful gem of a poem.  I read it several times, and the experience was pure pleasure.

Hi Corinne, This is very interesting and beautiful, The intimacy of the poet seems at stake in your poem.

Hi Karilea!

Thank you kindly, dear lady. I was checking out old threads here recently and recalled how friendly and kind everyone here is.

Hope you well and writing up a storm!

Hi BluesSerenade!

Thank you very much for the warm welcome! Great to read everyone here as well. I took a trip down memory lane here the other day and it's great that every single poem is still here! Most sites would have purged by now, so it's much appreciated.

Hi Owl!

Thank you for the kind words! Reading a poem more than once -- what more can one hope for -- thank you!

Hi Ray --

Thank you, that's so sweet!

Hi Yann!

Thank you for such great insights!
Hello, Earth Angel!

Thank you for the warm welcome-back hug!

Hope I'll be able to be around more, too!
Great to see you (and everyone here) again!

You've captured your subject in varying hues, remembering his bold colors that now seem muted, faded. It's good to read you again, Corinne. You always left us with poignant writes, and I hope you'll gift us with more.

Wonderful poem! Very thought-provoking, it made me decide to watch myself very carefully when writing, from now on

Did you have any particular author/poet in mind? Just curious...

Sigh.

Kinda kicked this old poet who cannot seem to infuse passion into anything these days, but still very nicely written, Corinne.

Good to see you again.
