Angelo is tired,
and it’s getting late.

He decides
to head for home.

He throws the strap of his shoeshine box
across his tired shoulders.

He heads across the street.
He is hit by a car.

Angelo is thrown
head over shoeshine box.

Kiwi cans are all over the street,
along with rags, brushes, and
his shoeshine box is smashed.

He’s just laying there with a broken bone,
his bone sticking out a bleeding hole
in his bare leg.

Traffic stops,
a crowd gathers around,
finally someone with sense goes out,
talks to him,
rips off his own tie
and makes a tourniquet for his leg
to stop the bleeding.

He comforts the kid,
keeps him still,
and all Angelo wants
is his mother.

The guy disappears
after the cops arrive
with an ambulance.

Over the years,
Angelo will wonder who
that mysterious guy was
that saved his life.

Bobby

I'm glad Angelo had a gardian angel on the scene, By the way I think you mean box instead of boxed.

Thanks dear Ida,

Thanks for finding that mistake.  I'm getting old.

God love us, everyone should have a Guardian Angel.  It's unfortunate not all do.

It just wasn't Angelo's time yet.

Thanks for the kind words on this effort.

Love Bobby

I'm not going to lie to you sir, I got lost in transitions in a few places.

But the overall message was clear.

It was a good read, sir. It put a smile on my face.

Thank you.

Angelo seems to have caught it from all sides, but he was durable, and he triumphed over it all. Really enjoyed the read, and I'm glad it had a "happy" ending.

The tragic accident allowed love to be on the scene. This reminded me of my son's motorbike accident, when the first person who happened to pass by was a doctor ...

Even in such tremendous moments there is reason for being grateful. You render this very well, dear Bobby.

Love,
Margherita

Thanks Art,

I'm pleased you liked the tale.  Yes Angelo is very durable.  This incident only made him tougher.  He's quite typical of most of our kids here in Philly.  They seem to bounce.

All of my books, and long series have happy endings.

Margherita,

Thanks for that.  It's great that the doctor was there for your son.  Life is so much of a dice roll.  I think that's the way it's set up.  Your son and Angelo were lucky.
