As I sit here tonight, Todays thoughts pass by, running through my mind, Twenty-four hours again, gone, never to be , time passes by, Today was a beautiful day, full of sunshine, softness, the world was busy, As I sat still, quiet, not moving, an inch, gazing and breathing, I got in my car, took a nice little drive, listening to favorites, Then near the edge of dark, Annies song softly played, That song does alot for me, More than money, anything, I remember it well, that morning I heard it, After opening my mailbox, the greeting card played it, the one you had sent, Title "Come Away With Me" I cried, I couldn't stop, that one simple thing, Made me so happy, so happy! I had never cried out of happiness, just loneliness and sorrow. I wished now, I would have, If onlys, going back in time, I would have came to you, That song, etched memory, everytime it plays, I always think of you... The words so tender, I sing them, this will always be our song, the words are so perfect, you picked it out... I just loved this my friend, your diary of a day, your thoughts from past and present, a love known, a love lost, a song given that will never be forgotten. I know how you feel my friend, amazing how curtain things bring memories back and often a tear to the eye. Beautiful poem, and one of my all-time favourite songs. I find myself singing it every now and then, out of the blue. When it rains, when the wind blows, when I see nature in all its glory, that is the song that pops in my head. |
