Hard in the fist of reality
is human will
in its struggle to be free of hatred and greed,
endless weight
of burning need
bending the immutable
as if a willow reed

with glacial speed
and rank determination.
It is by conscience,
and by consequence,
our global human soul evolves,
and by collateral damage
braided collective memories
our actions are recalled and weighted
against riptides of time,
and insubordinate demands of choice

in seeking consolation and escape;
raindrop streaks in sunbeams flash,
and in unexpected moments
distract
refine focus,
set me free.

Yet threads of dreams woven into nightmares
bind me,
like Gulliver in long night's moan
when my soul cries out for solace
in sound of thunder
lash of rain;
I am convinced time and time again
there is no anodyne in hope
to cut the pain of knowing life
and all it trials
and its shibbolethic sad proprietary needs.

the sound of thunder/lash of rain . . . just a wonderful kernel of the magnificent whole! This is a superb write, both artistically and technically---enjoyed immensely.

There you are...

and your words are like, channeled from Thor!

You made me look up words too, clever you--your usage of "shibboleth" lends such layers, and again, I must smile, and say, I don't really need to know much more than that.

But my my my.

I read this and felt the fist of my brother pounding the table again.

I miss that yanno.

Love you!

Tho I rant, I find it hard to be truly angry....perhaps I'm just tired

Or, have been worn slick

No matter, you say it for me, m'friend

Thank you

"Hard in the fist of reality
is human will."
This certainly appeals to me as I know human will to  be a force that seems to last beyond death sometimes.
Your poetry always forces me to look inward, outward and every other way for answers to the questions I am left with after reading you. This is the kind of poetry I enjoy most.

These words, dear Charly, are like a bud ready to  bloom upon the accumulation of bitterness. It is a sign, there is a solution always. Love and love is anodyne.

Again you offer us such a powerful and excellent poem, to ponder upon.

Love,
Margherita
