It was eight in Heaven And the commitee drank tea And tried to decide What their future might be. You see, Heaven's membership applications were trailing off Into a bit of a trough Whilst Hell's were at an Almighty peak. The Chairman arose, he gave a small cough And then, he started to speak... 'Ladies and gent's where shall I begin? We've been far too tough on original Sin. I think we all know where the new souls go They're trying their luck out down below. Now I know this may come as some surprise But these days now when someone dies They want to continue to do the things they liked to do on Earth, Enjoy themselves for all it's worth It's time to overlook, forgive There's nothing wrong with contraceptive And a good heart's not that hard to find Especially if you're that way inclined. Hell should be for those that bring harm to others Not reckless lovers, single mothers I think we know that only too well, And we're banishing millions of good souls, into the cold And in the fires of Hell. Let's have a Heaven in which we can believe And an Earth that they can safely leave.' There was a pregnant pause, whilst the Chairman waited for some applause. There was none forthcoming, the silence was numbing. After what had seemed like a week had passed, again the Chairman had to speak, 'Any other business?' He asked. |

Thank you for the peek into Heaven's General Meeting!! There is food for thought ... you remind me of Jesus' words about the door to heaven being very small ... but we can still get in I hope, one by one, without crowding the entrance. It's my belief that there is room for ALL. So called sinners and so called saints. love Margherita |

What a thought provoking little piece this is, Simon. I totally agree with John and I second his second. Ida |

Simon, It's most likely a fruitless endeavor to second guess the chairman. Bobby |

Enjoyed...I believe that God is willing to forgive any and all based on the scripture..."all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." All have sinned and all can ask for forgiveness and assure their place with God by receiving his Son Jesus...I'm not making this up...its in the Bible...James |

This is cool. I love different slants on the afterlife. I enjoyed the dialogue suggesting a revision to the old regime. ![]() Have you ever read Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality series? This put me in mind of that. |
