Alone Mama and Daddy and brothers, And I the new baby adored. Uncles and aunts and grandmothers, It seemed I would never be bored. Neighbors and friends and cousins, All wanting to rock me a bit. The very first girl in our family Was acknowledged a perfect fit. A sister and brother would follow To bring me companionship. With abounding love surrounding, Surely life would be a grand trip. I didn't foresee all the shadows And the changes along the way, Or that I'd be the oldest person Alive in my world today. They stayed until I was grown Into a young woman and wife. They thought they were no longer needed To guide me along in my life. But oh, what a lonesome feeling That the first beloved ones that you knew Are gone to their Heavenly Father. From that long ago time, there's just you. By: Joyce 5/31/05 |

((((Joyce)))), how touchingly intense are your words. It is and will always be difficult to accept that our loved ones move on. Though we believe in the possibility of reuniting in another dimension, it is still painful and loneliness is deeply felt. A beautiful poem about life as it is, dear Joyce. With your loving nature and personality you will never be alone, even though you miss your beloved family members. Love and hugs. Margherita |

Dear Joyce, Being a survivor has its advantages and perks. Everyone treats you great. It is however, a great responsibility. Bobby |

Dear Joyce. I always enjoy your poetry. It comes from the heart and flows off your pen seemingly without effort. Sincerely "late" |

Joyce, just looking at your photo, I can picture you as being the adored little darling of your family. One expects to have their parents and older siblings to return to heaven before them, but you also lost two siblings that were younger than you. I can feel the loneliness in your poetically expressed words. Keep on carrying on, Sweetie! Love you! Linda |

This is a wonderful write Joyce. Time goes so fast it seems. We all are destined to be a matriarch, patriarch of our family. |

Joyce, My heart goes out to you on your 'remembering day'. I love to think that your family is still looking down upon you and beaming with pride. Joyce, I think one thing that your poem did for me was to remind me that a smile to those people who are older might go a long way. So many have outlived families - I, too, would like to share your poem with an older woman that I know. xoxoxo Alison |

Thank you all. Earth Angel, I am afraid I mislead. I still have my two younger siblings and I have many others and lost others (including my precious son) over the years but none of them were around on that first few years of my life and I am the only survivor of that time. Love, Joyce |
