‘twas just a flash in the pan
that begat a spark of belief
but the pan too long on the heat
sent the spark soaring skyward
roaring its need like a lion
in the throes of agony.

This spark now turned to a flame
licked and danced, changed its stance,
in its march to a better place
but, lo and behold, the saviour, life
armed with a bucket of sand
killed the progression of love
and brought it back down to earth.

The pan didn’t care; it’s not like it can
when made to withstand the heat
and be merely a solid foundation
for what surely must follow on
but someone stood by to make it like new
and start flames in another abode.

And it’s like this pan’s on a mission
to enflame everyone’s mind
while remaining the same as before
in total denial and rejection
of the wilfulness of its deeds.

We’ve all had a pan somewhere, sometime,
that’s given rise to a lowly spark
but then to witness love’s sure death
makes of the march a mockery.

Love dies like that lion in agony
but it rises again into stubborn avowal
to not ever again suffer the heat
whether real or imaginary.

Love is cool and learning to be
a non-existent tool
in the affairs of the human heart
bent on staying apart
from the heat of internal and eternal
original blueprints of soul!

I guess "It is what it is" Helen and we do what we can to protect ourselves.

Dear Helen, your inquiring mind is quite an inspiration to your great poetic performances!

I think love NEVER dies, because it IS, but it is a question of awareness that makes it significant to us or not.

Love and hugs.

Fascinating analogy.

I prefer love to spark in a slow-cooker. Nice and easy and tender and lasts for a long time. A flash in a pan is showy ~ but short-lived!

Love to you, Honey!

Me, I like love in a blender. It's messy, but the ride is AWESOME!!!
