Hello to all my good PIP friends.I have just come home from a couple of weeks enjoyable respite. The nurses who looked after me were really wonderful so I wrote a poem for them. I'd like to share it with you all.

       Woodend’s  Wonderful  Nurses

It is with a wonderful sense of pleasure
That I’ve come back to Woodend for respite,
To see all those Nurses I’d met before
And many more who will gladden my sight.

Being a nurse is a wonderful profession
And most nurses are ever so kind,
And when we are completely under their care,
With our lives they become completely entwined.

Warmly welcomed by Lisa at the front desk,
Then shown to my room by dear Jan,
She fiddled & fussed & made sure things were right,
In fact she reminded me of my dear old Gran.

There are three great nurses like Claire and Linda
And Kaye, all top girls in any nurse’s selection,
And where would you get another like Emmy
Who is the pinnacle of nursing perfection?

Three others whose stars shine much brighter
And I say this on my scout’s honour,
They helped me with that little bit extra
And they all shared that first name of Donna.

The name of Di is collated with caring
And of the ones who were there to help me,
For their kindness they were all good at sharing,
As were Maxine, Kathryn, Rosemary and Lee.

Margaret and Melissa were angels of care
And Katrina and Joy top nurses in the world,
Also a very special gong for the cleaner,
For Lee always carried her banner unfurled.

There are others who stand tall like our Annie,
As well as Alison, the Lisa’s and Bee,
Also Jan who brought me my medication,
With them all, I shared a great empathy.

I know there are many more wonderful nurses
Who have all earned a great mention here?
But all your names I find hard to remember,
But who in my memory I hold very dear.

So to you all I say thank you sincerely
For all your kindness and your expertise,
I look forward to my next enjoyable respite
Just so long as my dear wife agrees.

Yo Lindsay,

Welcome back.  This is a fine poem.  Who can say anything bad about nurses?  My mother was a nurse, and I have a wonderful sister-in-law who is a retired nurse.

It great you had a good stay at the respite.  The nurses always took great care of me in hospital.

Hi Lindsey,
I'm am so glad you are back, I've been worried about you. What a wonderful tribute you wrote for the nurses. I am sure they were falling all over themselves to take care of you. Women always appreciate "a gentleman" like yourself. Now you have to have ta catch up and grace these blue pages with some more of your lovely poetry.

It is so good to have you back, my dear Aussie Man! You've been missed.

As a registered nurse myself, I truly can appreciate how your nurses would have appreciated your show of appreciation! lol

I bet they loved having you there and are missing you already!

You even paid attention to their names ~ and remembered them! Over the years there were times when I actually got to thinking my name was "NURSE!!!". lol

Loved the poem ~ and you, my dear friend!

Giving you a big, warm, welcome-back hug,
Linda

Hi there~  This is a wonderful tribute, like a little gift all wrapped up in ribbons and bows.  I hope you sent a copy to the nurses you write of.  I have read some of your poems and your replies LindsayP, and they have given me hope when I needed it most.  Funny how us poets can reach each other like that, and sometimes,  without ever knowing.  Anyway I just wanted you to know.  You've got a good heart and a good head!

Now, dear Lindsay, there was a whole blessed army of nurses there who took care of you, amazing.
Your kind loving words are a joy to read, it's so sweet of you to express your pleasure and your gratitude in this charming way.

Nice to have you back!

Love and joy!

Lindsay,

Welcome back.  I really have missed you and hope that you are doing well.

You know, so many complain about nurses - this is such a wonderful tribute to some people who do so much.  I loved that there is an Alison in your poem too.

Know how much you are cared about here in PiP.  Again, I missed you lots.

I think you are a wonderful man to write such a piece.  Those nurses were the lucky ones.
