My family was so happy Everything was well Until a simple Savage made my life a living Hell The savage never said much He seemed not very smart But with his shaman power He stole my dear wifes heart The savage could not read or write He snuck out from a hole He just kind of grunted As he carved his totem pole The savage lived a life of ease Assisted by his clan And then theres all the anger He thinks I stole his land The savage was so sneaky I thought he was my friend He gave me some smoked salmon And did to his fire tend Now the savage lives in my home And I am all alone To think a simple savage That can't even dial a phone Another thing the savage did Was claim my little kid That is the most contemptuous thing That the savage did So let this be a warning To every one of you A savage will steal your family It's what they like to do |

I feel for the lose of everything this person valued. I am unclear about who or what the savage represents in the poem. sharyn "God made you as you are |

Well the Savage represents a man who stole another man's wife. The stealer happens to be Native American. The man's anger is mischanneled toward Native Americans in general. At least that is what I was trying to do with the poem. |

Ida... I should have said the man FELT that the "savage" stole his wife. That is how the man perceived it. |

WElcome to Passions. You give great insight into the feelings of the man in situations such as this. That first reaction, the sting of being replaced in the lives of all whom are dear...everything that he worked for. I didn't read this as a judgement; right or wrong; but just an honest, open glimpse into the perception that is probably more often than not a first reaction to loss like this. Good job. TD |
