Little Sally’s as tough as nails.
Hell, she’s gotta be.
You don’t grow up in
Port Richmond hood
of Philadelphia,
unless you are.

Otherwise you get eaten
by the wolves.

She’s also as smart as a whip.

She gets a scholarship,
to attend
Little Flower High School
for Girls.

All she has to do
is walk over to Allegheny Ave,
and take SEPTA Route 60 bus.

She can handle that,
you bet your life she can.

The kid wants to learn.

She’s not too much interested
in the “white trash” way of life.

Sally did do well eventually, after she and Felix got themselves off the street.

Little Flower High School here in Philadelphia is named after Saint Therese, the “Little Flower”.

I'm pleased the poem worked for you. Yes, Sally did very well in school. She was always at the top of her class all the way through college.
