In an upside-down garden

0 posted 2008-05-09 11:34 PM

he had called
in the middle of the night
wide-eyed, head thrown back
high in the clouds
his breath hot and short,
                         I am in love with
                         our insatiable thirst
                         to sit
                      by the bed for awhile
                            dot every "i"
                            cross every "t"
We thought ourselves the lucky ones
                      beneath the bedding
                    our shoulders to the sky
                           afraid of thunder
I am thoughtless deliberation
Each nerve between my legs,
             his
the tasks of another world
         shimmering
       in the August heat.
There's a naked tree right outside the window
                               And I'm yammering
                            how can the earth turn?
                             our bodies step by step
                               white-hot in secret
                                      Thunder
                                      in the highest state
                                      kneeling to breathe,
                                      to spill our secrets
                                      to finally lose control.

Allysa,

You did it again - you just grab me with your writing.  I always just find myself leaning into it.  Thank you - the passion in this one is electric.(must be the Thunder).

I wish I was smart enough to totally figure this one out, for there lingers deep within the feeling that this one is far deeper than I have been able to decipher...it is so layered...love it because it required me to think...

You already know I adore you and this, is just teeth grinding intensity.

I'm still waiting for that call, too.

Um, NOW is good.

"I am in love with
our insatiable thirst..."

oh that is good...all of it is, as usual, but I really liked that a lot.

Trailing down the lines was, to say the least, a most enjoyable experience!

reading the intricacies of your lines as they flow effortlessly down to denouement.  Such a passionate piece of poetry

I always enjoy your work. This one will go alongside several others of yours I have archived for myself, so it can imbue, even just a little, of its greatness on me and from there I can attempt to write stuff somewhere as good as this. I humbly hope.

WONDERFUL as always. You have a tone and a feel that cuts right into me, every time.

Allysa is amazing.

I'm not sure if she's a poet or a carpenter, the way she hits those nails on the head:

"I am in love with
                         our insatiable thirst"

my my my....
