Linger a Little More Shadows be my beckoning call through a door, down misty hall beseech me to look o'er wall, But looking o'er I cannot bear, though voices faded do I hear sounding close and full of cheer, For beyond impenetrable wall I would heed the shadowy call to see the faces, loved voices all. Would had I but known though life's forces shown through yon past's door, I would not have flown so high, so long gone, but have lingered a little more. Age be wise to one still fair, knowing now how much I dare to revisit the past, 'tisn't fair… To not be able to once again hold the people that were true gold for they are now beyond old. Heart be broken o'er words unsaid yet they fill this empty head some days, I would be lead… Would had I but known though life's forces shown through yon past's door, I would not have flown so high, so long gone, but have lingered a little more. ©KRJ 23 January, 2000 Sy always had a way of inspiring me. He would attempt different forms of writing, different styles, but always the style that pleased all most, was his own inimitiable way of bringing one's heart to light. So it is, and so it will always be, that he will linger on in PiP as one of its best, and beloved poets, ever. " It matters not this distance now " Excerpt, Yesterday's Love |

Karilea I would not have flown so high, so long gone, but have lingered a little more. ... As you know, Sy lingers here and is entrenched in your hearts. When one comes to PiP for the first time, I think we see a place to put our efforts out to be seen. It's like stages of being among you. Then we read and read .. taking more time to write our own poems. I think we learn from the Sy's and the Sunshines and the Balladeers and the Larrys and the ... well, the list is endless. Then one day we come in and start to see people among the words. We see relationships and history .. and maybe we go to the Archives to learn just "who" these people are and just what they mean to each other. And, we start to learn of you. Could be we are at the advantage in the "getting to know you" game. You have shared so much, each of you ... and we are still selectively placing pieces of ourselves out to be seen. Karilea, I still don't know most of you, but - believe me - I KNOW you. I know the love that fills your hearts. I know grandchildren and sons and daughters. I know struggles and dreams, past and present. I came to PiP and I quickly saw a "constant". People responded to my efforts with kindness and respect. You all stand out. I didn't know Sy, but I knew him. And I don't know you, but I know you. I can't say what is in my heart ~ each effort seems clumsy to me. But, I thank God that I was here to share some words with such a kind, wise and gentle man. Alison |

K, you always have a way of gently waving to those who have slipped to the other side. Sy will be part of your heart, always. |
