I often used to wonder why on those days of witnessing watching strangers cry I would always offer them a hug but they would duck as though I were offering arms that were a flame as if as if I would hurt them I didn't understand until now that at times it is too much and love is not a comfort but a blanket coarse with itchy wool on skin that is still sensitive from the ones that came before Now I understand too much knowing I know not at all like the time I argued that I cast no shadow in the fall gazing into sun that lied the shadows were still tall behind me and my four feet. She didn't do me favors then showing me that it was there: Turn around and look, you'll see now I know they're everywhere doing everything I do She was not a friend of mine. But Oh I loved her so... Sometimes touch is just too much. Sometimes it is just too soon. Sometimes tho, it's just enough, and that cow still jumps the moon. I wish the fork had run away with the spoon I learned to use. I guess it had to be that way what with me, hot tar, & noon. And no it ain't regret I feel it's just feelings I tried not to feel, I took the long shortcut traveling where wild things are. Puzzling the sand, the beach and why the jabberwockies ate oysters as they begged for life remembering they were polite as they went in for the kill... Here. I wave to you a hug. Knowing that it hurts to touch burns that are still blistering. And a kiss might be too much but I pray you know the peace I'm sending backwards home to you. Little girls get lost sometimes. So little girls should be renewed with a precious drop of pure feeling travel glistening down my cheek to wet my lips upon my fingers blowing kiss as I see you both in you. And yes, I love you too. * * * This is a repost from another poem I'd posted, "que sera". It's worth a look, I think, not for my own originating post, but for all of the poetry that others so generously contributed. You can find that here, and I invite those who did so the improv to repost their own. I also invite anyone else who feels so inspired to add along here, or post seperately, as you see fit. /main/forumdisplay.cgi?action=displayarchive&number=92&topic=002360 * * * Have A Blessed Beltane. |

Karen...Totally you. So great too read you again, it's been so long and I've waited patiently for another glimpse of you. You know I always have to try and disect your poetry because it leads me in so many different directions and I just enjoy picking your brain, so hear goes Wanting to share your love with all as a young girl and strangers not knowing hot to accept that openiness. The nusery rhyme part tells me you miss your childhood. You had a special love as a young girl that you still hold deep in your heart in a very private way and this person taught you so much about life, or perhaps it is the other you that you love and miss. If I am totally off base here please tell me just to keep my mouth shut and my thoughts to myself...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

My favorite parts... ~*~ Brava! |

*smiling at Paullie* I've just been looking back again, trying to decide what to keep and what to change and what to get rid of entirely. I'm undergoing a karenovation? That movie, Juno, the character summed it up for me when she confessed her predicament to her father: "I really don't know what kind of girl I am..." But I think I chose this part because it's part-street-wise-retrospect and still very much a scared little girl. I'm wondering if that ever goes away, too. But I did enjoy that thread very much, the communal poetry part gave me some comfort in that as different as all of us are, we share common ground emotionally. I've met wonderful people... I'm grateful. Love and hugs to you all. *forehead kiss* |

Serenity, I am delighted you brought this up. So much to read into that poem and the second one. Much to ponder because we have all been in the little girl's sneakers. I had printed out all of it and still insist it needs to be a book. Love ya."late" |

Karen, I love how you manage to write so elequently about your quick minds many diversified thoughts. Sheesh, I can't even remember what I've opened the frig door for, much less to write about it. I swear you are your own best psycologist. Love, Rae |

Heyyyyyyyy Rae--you made me laugh about the frig door, because for the life of me, I don't know what it is about a refrigerator, but everybody does this-- just stands there gazing in at the light... like there's a show going on in there. (I truly hope there is not. ) A hug for you too, and Happy May Day! |

This poem was so full of beautful words and expressive imagery but I truly enjoyed "I often used to wonder why on those days of witnessing watching strangers cry I would always offer them a hug but they would duck as though I were offering arms that were a flame as if as if I would hurt them I didn't understand until now that at times it is too much and love is not a comfort but a blanket coarse with itchy wool on skin that is still sensitive from the ones that came before" It made me think about things differently and I always appreciate that sharyn |

oh my...kaile of the laughing spirit eyes, it has been too long. And one was more about trying to unlearn pain. I'd rather no one understood it, for their own sake. Stick around a while? You've been missed. |

Wow. Why, thank you, jmjovies. This is a lovely way to meet you too! I hope I didn't skip thanking everyone individually. I thought it was about time I acknowledge with gratitude the people who take the time to acknowledge me. I want to thank everyone who read and didn't respond as well, because I understand the feeling of just not knowing what to say. I've been negligent in my thank you notes. *winks* to Mysteria--Sharon? I still have them yanno. I just found them in my desk drawer! Why of all the places...*chuckle* My love goes out to all of you. |

Karen, this Serenity Blaze poem brought home to me with sparkles, how extremely lucky and honoured I am to be one you count as a friend. It also makes it so abundantly clear why so many count you as a friend. You are the epitome of what I most appreciate in a friend - weird, wild, sensitive, spontaneous, warm and caring - the brilliance is a huge extra! |

Awesome, dear Karen! I have spent quite some time here now, rereading also the former impressive thread. I am really still so very grateful to you ... Too late now to go on, but just wanted you to know how much I appreciate your poetic excursions into your psyche. Love you, Margherita |
