Our Space I piled all our pictures in the middle of the bed. Those of me on the left, my side; of you on the right, your side; of us, everywhere – because we shared it corner to corner, side to side, head to toe. Your space, my space . . . our space, above all. I burned them, out in the yard, with the sheets, the spread, the pillows. I buried the ashes because they cried every time I touched them, and I still hear them now from the bare mattress, the middle of which I sit; our space. No matter what’s gone, or removed - everything’s tainted, with our space. A door has closed. Every thing touchable is almost gone: the pictures, other things I have yet to pick-up, or move: memory, where faces become idealistic, abstract, fade, blur into something not quite seen. A door has closed; all I have is a window through which only darkness will eventually be seen, and a reflection – a reflection of me. . . looking back. © wesley james beard, jr. april 2008 ... no about me |

Oh, Jimmy, this is heart-wrenching. Please say that this is "simply poetry" ~ mind you, be this scenario true or not, it is mighty fine emotive poetry that reached out and grabbed my solar plexus! Your vividly descriptive write brought some similarly painful moments in my own life, to the fore. Love to you! Linda |

JWesleyJWesley~ 'all I have is a window' You go to that window and open it WIDE ... there is light trying to reach you~ There is a deep, poignant sad feeling to this~ Give yourself a great big *HUGLET* from me~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |

Earth Angel . . . I don't usually say what prompt's a particular writing but this was brought about by the reading this moring of several of the "Cade" writings by Alison. I know it doesn't reflect remotely the love and soul-ache she feels, and it was not meant to. It's only the cry that the readings inspired in the soul of me. |

A rare accomplishment, Jimmy, to express the depth of the emotion of loss as if you sang to all of humanity in the person of the one whose space you shared. To say more would be hard to do! Art |
