I started writing this a few years back and while I don't know what happened to the original version the main theme sticks in my head so I wrote it again even though I'm pretty sure it still ain't finished. One of these Days One of these days I'm going back home and take me a walk where the green grass grows build me a house for this love of mine by the sycamore trees, the cedars and pines a sweet little house where we both can live to share all the love that we have to give a white picket fence with flowers on the sill down by the creek Granddaddy's old still come on pretty baby don't you want to go I'll take ya there with me down the old dirt road I'll give you a kiss where it feels so good we'll do all the things we only wish we could push back the veil reveal the mystery my Woman right beside me making history singing sweet songs the broken heart heals the hand of the Almighty will be breaking the seals One of these days I'm gonna marry you take ya by the hand when you say I do build us a bed with the sky up above fill your arms with a heart full of love a big front porch with twelve rocking chairs the laughter of children will be filling the air a well tended garden with food on the vine I bring these gifts to this love of mine One of these days I'll be calling your name trying your heart and tugging your reins then you'll know it is with you I stand as we make our way to the promised land. come on pretty baby don't you want to go? I'll take ya there with me down the old dirt road I'll give you a kiss where it feels so good we'll do all the things we only wish we could.... "May the things I know be limited only by my imagination" |

"One of these days I'm gonna marry you take ya by the hand when you say I do build us a bed with the sky up above fill your arms with a heart full of love a big front porch with twelve rocking chairs the laughter of children will be filling the air a well tended garden with food on the vine I bring these gifts to this love of mine" ~ Oh, Joe! What woman could ask for more?!? I hope that all of your dreams came true! Actually, I wanted to quote the entire poem! It was so tender, romantic, and downright heart-touching! Big hug, Linda |

Thanks Linda, your poetry moves me too! I was thinking when I read your new one how similar our themes really are and I bet if we ever had a really deep conversation our dreams for this life would fall right in line. Joe |

"come on pretty baby don't you want to go? I'll take ya there with me down the old dirt road I'll give you a kiss where it feels so good we'll do all the things we only wish we could...." What a great sense of cadence in this stanza. I like the fact that it was repeated in the poem. Thanks for sharing sharyn |

Dear kindred spirit, re your comment to me, I do believe you are correct in that assumption! That is probably why effjayel thought that we would appreciate each other's poetry! ~ and he was right! Linda |

a warm poem, joe. the sharing of love is an important part of the journey...and when a story is written, it is important that one does not die alone. |

Joe~ Something nostalgic in this read likes me~ It is a nice read aloud piece too~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |
