Thoughts for my husband's father who passed away yesterday... a sad and lonely man. Robert Hector Bruce May you now rest in peace By choice A lonely death you had Your children Left to grieve the father They never knew Your grand children Left to mourn a grandfather lost You held them all at a distance And yet the sadness you have left will linger long after your spirit has gone I wish you safe passage to the land of God Be kind at heart....for everyone you meet has their own battle to fight......... |

A sad life and a sad death. A loss to those left behind. This is so sad and well written. Joyce |

Roneice, I send my condolences to you all. Robert has returned Home and most likely has a better understanding of the lonely life that he apparently had chosen here on Earth. His love for those he left behind will, in some ways, shine much brighter from afar. Love & Eternal Light, Linda |

Roniece, In a way I guess my Dad was like that too. It makes me wonder why a man would choose to chase after something he thought he didn't have and end up with nothing in the end, sad really. He got to where he'd call me in the days leading up to his passing and for a man who always put on the front of being sure it turned out he wasn't too sure about anything in life really. I learned from my Mother that it is and always has been Love that holds us together as a family and that real Love is selfless, the caring, the giving, the nurturing, never asking anything in return and when you have that, even if you lost everything, as long as you have that Love you already have everything we need to survive this world we live in. I think you have a big heart full of Love. Joe |

Dear RDB, This is an interesting poem. As an old grandfather, I often wonder what my horde of progenies will feel about me. It doesn't worry me. Bobby |

Why is it that the person unknown often makes us grieve the most? My condolences on your loss. My prayers are with you and your family. Muna seasaimid le ceartas, ní sheasfaidh ceartas linn - Francis Bacon |

It's important that my kids know who I am. As to what they think of that person, we're all individual and I am comfortable with the person that's me ... I can't expect everyone else to be, necessarily. So it's sad to me that one wouldn't let his kids at least "know" him. And the grandkids....I only hope to live long enough that they will know me too... Good write Roniece. Jimmy |

Ronnie, yet another reason why some of us don't choose that pathway...it's much too enjoyable to spread love and hugs, isn't it? For some reason, I sense that this is not the way your husband sees life, is it? |

My condolences, Roniece! I haven't been here much so am sorry to read now of your loss. It's strange that that one certainty of life always comes as such a shock to us but it is nevertheless a shock and I feel for you and yours. Helen |

Dear Roniece, I was looking back for one of your poems to repay your kindness for all of you gracious reviews, when I came upon this. You never would have known that you just went through such a sad ordeal as this by the way you continue to go around lifting everybody else up, all around you with your selfless support. How sad to go through life without knowing kindness such as yours. My heartfelt condolences to you and your loved ones Roeniece. Take Care, Rich. |

Sometimes they just can't come up with the words that will come close to matching the mood. I think that is what writing does for me at times...It lets me express so much that I might otherwise hold silent. I know all the years you watched him had to have been so very frustrating for you and your children as well. |
