i remember when gas was nineteen cents in a gas war that involved no guns when five loaves of bread were a dollar at the day-old store when the bread man came in a white truck dressed in non-hospital whites when the local candy store was in the neighborhood and in the basement, yet when you could see through the floor in aunt tillie’s store when you had to bend over the chest-high cooler for a coke in a bottle (and smaller was better) when houses were less than atvs and interest was when you showed it—not paid it i remember when old was grandma who passed at fifty-two and young was the world in which i lived i looked at my passport today as i filled the tank and remembered when i could still remember |

I remember so many of these things. Thank you for making me think of them. Remember Oleo? In order to make it yellow, like butter, you put in a small packet of orange powder. Ida |
