Felix Sleeps Out |

Felix’s Foster Dad and his gang of drunken pals are downstairs raising hell. Felix can’t sleep with all that racket going on. He gets up, puts on his clothes, goes down stairs and walks out the door. Nobody notices him. It’s a warm night. Felix goes down to the corner, and curls up on the bench in front of the Neighborhood Scoop ice cream parlor. People are getting used to seeing him there summer mornings. Bobby |

I can really sympathize with Felix and see him in my head. Simple words, but powerful imagery. Muna seasaimid le ceartas, ní sheasfaidh ceartas linn - Francis Bacon |

Yo Angel, No, it wasn't cold. Felix only does this when it's nice and warm. Bobby [This message has been edited by Robert E. Jordan (04-24-2008 12:00 AM).] |

I want to adopt Felix and give him a nice warm bed in his own room and his own things around him. Joyce |

Yo Caliban, Thanks for the kind words on this. I'm pleased you were able to picture it. It happens often enough here when it's warm weather. Welcome to the web site, you'll like it here. Bobby |

Dear Joyce, I'm sure you would give Felix a good and loving home. Be assured, he would like that very much. Love Bobby |

Thanks Seoulair, Yes, Felix is smart. In warm weather it happens here fairly often. Sometimes the noise, and danger gets too much. Bobby |

There is something tragically existential about Felix's life but, at the same time, noble and transcendent! Keep the story going, Bobby! Art |

I haven't responded before but I have followed your Felix chronicles and I must say that you are very good at taking small snippets of life and portraying them in such a way through Felix that they are simple and yet hard-hitting at the same time. I applaud you, sir |

The really sad impression is transmitted by the fact that Felix goes out in the night and nobody notices, cares ... a lack of caring and love, that hurts. But it shows also the courage and spirit of freedom and independence of this boy! Well rendered, dear Bobby! I am reading currently your book "City boy staying alive" which has arrived two days ago ... The stream of consciousness style is captivating, I must admit! And the city boy is becoming a quite familiar child .... it hurts to read about how tough his childhood was. Love, Margherita |

Thanks Dear Margherita, I very pleased that the Felix series is working for you. Felix is very much the way it is sometimes. Of course I'm more than pleased you are reading about me and my friends in my autobiography, "City Boy Stays Alive". Love Bobby |

Thanks James, for reading and commenting. Felix doesn't have to worry about people going for his wallet. There's more danger of someone going for him. Felix says thanks for your kind concern. Bobby |

Felix is extremely street smart... He know exactly which bench to curl up on. Of course, he could always come to my house and crash on the couch... Tammy<333 |

Thanks Dear Tammy, It pretty hard to get Felix out of Philly--he's kind of attached to the place. Then of course there are his business considerations. Love Bobby |

Thanks Dear RDB, No Felix should have to sleep on park benches, however, they do. Both here in Philadelphia, and I'll bet in Sydney too. Felix says thanks for the kind offer. Love Bobby |
