If I were but a hummingbird, I'd dart from here to there, From daffodil to vinca's bloom, Where I'd hover in mid-air Sipping of maid's nectar sweet, Until I'd had my fill, With wings a blur, I'd then depart, A darting to sir daffodil. If I were but a flower wild, I'd bloom with dawning's glow, Opening up to greet the day, And to the world bestow, The beauty to, which I'd been graced, By Nature's omnipotent power, Then with the passing of the day, I'd sleep at sunset's hour. But I am but a mortal man, A hummingbird I'm not, I'll never be a flower wild, A bloom in nature's plot, But each day at sun's first rise, I can stroll afield, To gaze on birds and flower's wild, To sip of nature's yield. |

Nice work Made me think of a hymn that starts "If I were a butterfly", which is now playing itself in my head haha. Enjoyed. |
