Love's Interlude

In a brief,
perfect moment
our lives became entwined
as love, both given
and  taken
defied life's reason
and rhymn.

For a while
we wove one destiny
from the threads
of separate lives
til fate unraveled
the futile hope
that you and I'd
survive.
