It’s a lonely road that you walk on, I bet The center line dotted with question marks that no map can decipher. One hand beckons you onward, one clings to hold you back. And in between is loneliness. I want to hold on to you and keep you here. My eyes show this deep longing then, again, they well with tears. We talk our goodbyes with urgency, each day counted, cherished. And tears water our eyes. Shhhh, you say, shhh, don’t cry; but sometimes I cry silently. Each sob stifled until resistance crumbles, another emotional battle lost. Each poem has you woven in it; your name whispers off my tongue. And I already miss you. I already miss you with intensity that hurts. I close my eyes and write poetry, thoughts flowing like those damn tears; my eyes are too tired to see. Now we talk about ‘when’ not ‘if’. And we cry together. Shhh, you say, shhh, don’t cry; but we still cry silently. --- Alison |

Gosh Alison, you have me crying now too and I suppose for all the many people and things I've missed during the course of my life so far. I guess you did good here, gal, to make the reader feel the sadness of goodbye and to make them cry silently. I hope for you that the "when" is sooner than you think. Helen |

While reading your poem my breath caught and my heart literally ached. If we didn't love with all our heart we wouldn't know these feelings you write of. And I felt your words deeply. |

Yo Alison, This is very good Hon. Try and remember though, crying doesn't pay, there's not much money in it. Bobby |

All of you have touched me in ways that you may not realize. The kindness and support is amazing. Bobby, tears are healing too. I wish you all a good couple of weeks as I am going to be gone. If I can peek in, I will. With love, Alison |

O, dear, O dear. How visceral, how aking, how deep is the longing here, how personal, how universal how easy to identify with it, it is for me. J |

Alison, your sadness is palpable and I could feel it deeply as I read your words that were emotionally charged. Sending a loving and compassionate hug, Linda |

And so close to you, you make me feel, How paradoxic that geography and circumstance would keep you so very far away ... Shhhhhhh conspiratorial whisper. I'm turning off all my hearing and FM sound equipment so that I can listen to the tidal rhythms, of your emptying and filling heart. Love, Jaime |

Alison! O, Alison! well okay did I already reply once maybe twice ... let's see. Ivery time I look at it makes me feel I am wit you. And can be with you anytime. That is the magic that transcends the tree barriers that so often keep us so painfuly apart. You jump through the hoops of Time Circumstance and Space, and know that someone somewhere loves me even if they can't be here in actual person. sorry in advanced if I decide I have to reply to this again! :---------) Spring is springing in the Arctic? Love Jaime |
