The doctor that broke Felix’s leg fits him with a nice green cast. The doctor chooses green, because the doctor has an Irish name. The doctor is silly, and cares about his so-called heritage. Felix feels the doctor should join the human race, that would give him a worth-while heritage. But that’s another story. The doctor gives Felix a pair of crutches, and instructs him to come back to the clinic every week for a while. Felix thinks to himself, “Don’t hold your breath doc.” Bobby |

Hi Bobby, I just have to tell you this story. When my kids were little and we needed money, My husband and my brother worked on their days off at a car auction. They worked with a few other guys, one who had a bad limp. One of the others, a guy by the name of Farley, made fun of the way he walked all the time. My husband who had polio when he was young and also had a slight limp, would get very angry and was always telling him to lay off. One day Farley drove his car into the auction area to show it, got out and walked around to the back and opened the trunk. Just then the guy in the car behind him pulled up, the brakes failed and the car hit him, pinning him between the two cars and breaking both legs. When he finally healed he was left with a very bad limp. That lesson was not lost on me and I can't help but think that horrific doctor got what was coming to him somewhere down the line. Ida, I think the type of payback that Farley got is fairly common. There does seem to be real justice in the world. It's amazing. Thanks for telling me the story of this Farley guy. Bobby |

I can't understand why a doctor would have to break a child's leg when they are always breaking them on their own. Today he would lose his license. And Felix would probably be taken into child protective custody.Joyce |

Joyce, I don't know what happened to the doctors that did this back in the sixties. Probably nothing. When I read that back in the sixties, it really made me angry. That's why I'm writing about it now. Apparently, the beat goes on. The URL I posted eariler made me angry, that's what brought this old tale to mind. As far as Felix going into foster care, that's the idea behind this book. Felix's experiences in foster care. It was crappy. He'd be 100% better off staying with his mother, or as we'd call her here, his "old lady". I was raised by a mother very much like Felix's mother. Thank heavens I got to stay with her. Bobby |

Extremely disturbing, dear Bobby. Poor Felix and poor abused children! So what happened under Hitler's tyranny isn't even the worst one can hear. The pharmaceutical companies are more interested in accruing their profits than in healing people. Love, Margherita |
