Felix Is Shocked and Puzzled |

Felix is shocked and puzzled, well beyond the limits of his own extensive gullibility, at how many people really despise him. He runs through a catalogue of events in his life, trying to find that instance when he has hurt someone. No, he can find none, no, not a one. His catalogue has piles of instances when he, himself, has been hurt, both physically and mentally. That doesn’t seem to count with some people. Felix just can’t figure it out. It worries him, and it makes him sad. Bobby |

Sometimes, dear Bobby, we hurt others without being aware of hurting, it's all in the eyes of the observer. Some can take more than others, but we always need to take into account the sensitivity of all. Sometimes my husband says things that hurt me and when I complain, he regularly says he didn't mean to hurt me ... just an example. This is very touching, I can feel the sadness. Yes there is much terrible pain in Felix's life and much to elaborate in order to not feel the burden so heavy anymore. Felix is also very much loved and he surely feels this. Love, Margherita |

I think Felix should not concern himself with anyone who would despise an abused child. Ida |

Margherita, Thank you for your wisdom on this poem. Over the years, Felix has developed very much into a capitalist. He’s quite enamored, perhaps obsessed with his own self-interest. He’s developed a nasty set of clay feet. Bobby |

Ida, Thanks for the timely and good advice. Felix, I'm afraid is a little hard. He should really take more account of peoples' sensibilities. It is just sometimes hard for Felix to figure things out. He's making himself a big pan full of Italian red sauce with hot sausage over the whole thing. That will make him feel better. Bobby |

People don't' need reasons or esp good reasons to despise others. We just want to do it on self-defined whatever thought. Felix is good to have a self-reflection. |

Seoulair, I'm afraid what you say is true. I'll never understand it. Sally, Angelo, Father John, and many others love Felix. Felix self-reflects quite often. The red sauce is coming right along. Bobby |

Hi Bobby, it is true (men can be so stupid and despise each others) that we can't love everybody and be loved by everyone...We must protect ourselves every day and night... Have a nice day yann |

Yann, I’m sorry to hear things are that way where you are at. Our poor, urban, hood is not like that. The thieves, and burglars in the hood don’t bother the neighbors, they know they don’t have anything. If they want to pull a job, they always pick on the more affluent places. It’s thoughtful. A book has been written about the burglars from here in our hood. It’s called “Confessions of a Second Story Man” by Allen M. Hornblum. The sub-title is "Junior Kripplebauer and the K & A Gang" It’s a good read, even if you just want to know more about my home. Of course you wouldn’t want to meet Felix in a dark alley on one of his hungry days. Bobby [This message has been edited by Robert E. Jordan (04-09-2008 03:36 PM).] |

People hate what they fear and fear what they do not know. They cannot know what they will not take time to learn… “Learn to decide by what’s inside.” Tammy<333 |

Tammy<333, Thank you for that. What you say is very true. I try never to judge by appearances. In fact, I don't judge at all. I have too many failing of my own to get in that quagmire. Felix has a good heart, and he does the best he can. Bobby |

Dear RDB, I know you could never despise Felix. However, some people do. I can't figure it out. He's just a kid like me with no father around. Perhaps that's why I can't figure it out. I know everyone loves me. Bobby |

John, Felix and Bobby love you right back. Wawa was a dear friend. He was loud, and tough, but he was a good guy, with a big heart. He used to sel papers in the subway concorse under Philly City Hall. I haven't talked to him since 1963. Wawa was always working at something to make an honest living. You would like him. BTW, Felix has moved to "Mature Content" and "Behind Closed Doors" He'd love to hear from you. Bobby |

John, A lot of the people from back then have disappeared. I'm sure some are dead, and many others are "lost". Forty-five years is a long time. I was away from the hood for many years my-self. The only one that I have real connections to now, are my girlfriend, and one of her brothers. Life was hard for them. It was hard for all of us. Bobby |
