A snapshot of our country/city mixture Traffic jams still unknown here Highways close for our parades Road signs warn of crossing deer Sycamore, DeKalb's county seat Boasts stately old homes to discover Jack-o-lanterns on courthouse lawn Before “Pumpkin fest” is over Our giant dining room window Lets us view two miles beyond Traffic on two thoroughfares And fields of golden corn Glimpsing at snow’s melting blanket Four robins caught my eye As squirrels played tag in our maple, Spring blew winter a kiss, “Goodbye.” Some homes, like ours, on our court Sit on spacious double wide lots People die to move in behind us In the quiet cemetery plots Classifieds for computers, donkeys, Laying hens and antiques Corn mazes, stage plays, goats and hay Whatever anyone seeks Shops and box stores of every kind Eateries and gas stations abound NIU, in DeKalb, is nearby We’re an ever expanding town [This message has been edited by sandgrain (03-26-2008 10:40 AM).] |

Wonderful poem on your home Rae, and I hope you don't mind I forwarded it to Michael (Balladeer) for inclusion in this year's submissions. See his post for collecting of these |
