If you want blood with your answers
if your truth runs as weak as your wine
tonight when you lie on your altar
will your prayers be so different than mine?

Today when you're splitting the difference
and tonight when you hang on your cross
will you sleep well then with the comfort?
someone else is to blame for your loss

with the sun, you awake never sleeping
and with the dawn you awaken so wise
a smile disappears all the weeping
as the truth disappears in your eyes

With a prayer, you know you can fix it
and with a sigh, you pick up your cross
Thank God you awoke with more answers
To prevent you from sharing the cost
