.

Above clouds
Distant mountains
On old graves
Ghost flowers grow

Leaves rustle
In darkened forest
Among its shadows
Sleeping deer

At night on water
Moonlight dances
To a soughing cadence
Along the shore

One cricket calls
From autumn grasses
Spirits wander
Over broken stone

Shivering fires
Burned up old stories
Invisible smoke
flies off the past

Thank you all

Aikura was the last town
visited by Alan Booth, (1946-1993),
in his last book:
Looking for the Lost,
Journeys Through a Vanishing Japan.
I can not describe its impact
except to say I continue re-reading it.

Thank You all again,

John

I am glad I found this, dear John, it speaks volumes and the scenery you evoke is amazing.

Love.

I like this part the most because i can really see what your talking about because you describe it in such beauty, but poetic! lol

I love to see the moon and space, i am very interested in the moon and other parts of stuff in Space-- thank you for sharing this lovely piece with all the fellow pips!

it is extremely unusual for me to return to a poem for a third
'official' read (and 'comment/reply' post)...this 'write' is assuredly
well worth another visit!

continuing applause!!

"One cricket calls
From autumn grasses"
I can hear it, even above the howl of tonight's final winter sigh.
