My friend Rozzie Years ago when I was young From the town where I came from, A good friend gave Mum a little dog, A cross between a mini' foxie & a pom. She was such a lovely little dog And smart as smart can be, She chased foxes from their dens And possums up their tree. Fifty years have passed since then So I thought I'd get another dog the same, After three months watching trading post, At last on the right advert I came. One was advertised down at Ardeer And the story goes as follows, I went down and bought the pup For the sum of one hundred dollars. It's the best hundred dollars I've ever spent And the main reason is because, She's as smart as any dog could be And for a name we called her Rozz. Recently she proved her worth With the tenacity of Mrs Thatcher, She sprang upon an escaping rat And became a dedicated rat catcher. She is so extremely quick to learn When you see her attributes unfurled She can count and play and say g'day And we wouldn't swap her for the world. |

Lindsay, This is heart-warming. I love when people appreciate the animals who own them. Sounds like a great partnership. Alison |

LindsayP, Yes, I like this one. I have a dog, and she's a sweetheart and all that. However, she is--well--dumb. But that's okay, she takes me for a walk in the hood three times a day. She couldn't deal with a rat to save her life. Bobby |

I think people who love animals have more to give to other people too. I think as we get older pets help to make life worth living and sometimes keep us around longer. Ida |

Lindsay, I'm a sucker for animals. Just before I went into hospital I was driving down a country road & a van coming the other way was flashing his headlights at me. Thinking it was a hidden cop with the radar gun I instinctively slowed down. Turned out to be a baby rabbit limping across the road. I stopped and put my 4 way flashers on & shooed it into the bushes at the road side. I was seen by someone that knew me who later took the rip out of me and asked my why I'd done. He wa amazed when I correctly told him that I bet you have not got a cat or dog at home...us animal lovers huh? Another good read from the pen of Mr P ! |

John, I can see you and I are tarred with the one brush. I have been an animal lover all my life and have kept a wide variety of both fur and feather. Dogs, cats, deer, squirrels,Possums, rabbits and horses, just to name a few and birds too numerous to mention. Your story on how you treated that little bunny shows just what sort of person you are. Thanks for being my friend. |

Alison, yes it is a great partnership and Rozzie does bring me so much pleasure, Thanks for your thoughts. Bobby, She may not be a rat catcher but I'll bet she has many other endearing characteristics, at least she takes you for a walk. Thank you my friend. Lady Tom, I am so glad that you enjoyed the read and I thank you for it. Ida, they are very wise words that you have written dear lady, they do add a wonderful dimension to your life, thanks so much. Rick, well my friend no one outside the family knows Rozzie better than you, as you have one of her pups and she always greets you with a big smile when you come to visit and follows up with a couple of barks of welcome.
