Butch is big,
fat,
and dumb.

He’s the boss
of the hood.

He’s got a rope
around
half naked,
filthy,
sweaty,
Felix’s
scrawny neck.

Butch is leading him
around
the hood.

He’s got
Felix
on display.

Cars are driving
up and down
the busy street.

Some slow down
to have a good look
at Felix.

“Hey Mister,
ya sees anything
ya likes?”

Butch gives a sharp tug
on Felix’s rope,
and Felix stumbles
tiredly forward.

Felix is
a good actor.

“How much
do you want
for your boy
kid?”

“Gimmy fifty
green ones
n he’s yours.”

Money
changes
hands.

The driver
takes Felix’s rope,
and leads him
to the cars
back seat.

He ties one end
of Felix’s rope
around a head rest
post,
and drives off
with Felix.

Felix
is on his own
now.

He’s always
taken care
of himself.

Bobby

Scary and very real. You should do a book about Felix.

Ida,

I'm pleased you found it real, of course it is real.

Felix will be my fourth book, and it should come out sometime at the end of this year.

My books are avaliable on the Internet.

Simon,

Thanks for reading, and commenting.  I'm pleased you enjoyed it.

My beloved Port Richmond neighborhood here in Philadelphia is a great source of inspiration.

Dear RDB,

Yes, Felix was scared, but like I say, Felix always takes care of himself.

That rotten Butch was always pulling dirty tricks on him.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

Passing shadows,

Yes, well, you know how it is here in the hood.  Things sometimes get out of hand.

It's home though, and we love it.

Thanks for reading and commenting.  More Felix stories are on the way.

There are realities in our world that make one shudder to the bones and you bring them into the readers' awareness so powerfully, dear Bobby.

Some may not heal from such trauma, I am glad to hear Felix has learned to take care of himself.

Margherita,

What you say is true.  It can all be chalked–up to poverty, and mans’ inhumanity to man.  Don’t be too alarmed.  Remember, Felix has been there before.  He’s smart, and he’s thinking.

I haven’t had the heart to tell about his first time.

Nakdthoughts,

Yes, it is sad, and sadder still that it’s very real.

Tom,

Yes, life is tough to Felix.  But he's a tough guy, and he can handle it.

Oh God, this is the content of `Felix`.  I am intrigued by the book but I think my heart needs to heal having just finished `City Boy Stays Alive`.
